DR JANIL PUTHUCHEARY

Dr Janil Puthucheary, 49, was elected Member of Parliament in 2011. He is currently Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Communications and Information, and Ministry of Health.

He is also the Minister-in-charge of GovTech.

He chairs OnePeople.sg, which works to promote racial harmony in Singapore. His political roles include Chair of Young PAP (the youth wing of the People’s Action Party), and Whip.

ALVIN TAN

Mr Alvin Tan was appointed Minister of State for the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, and the Ministry of Trade and Industry on 1 September 2020. He was first elected as a Member of Parliament in July 2020. On 22 November 2021, he was appointed to the Monetary Authority of Singapore’s (MAS) Board of Directors for a three-year term.

Mr Tan has worked in the private, public and non-profit sectors. Before joining the government as Minister of State, he worked in organisations such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Goldman Sachs, the United Nations and Oxfam.

Mr Tan holds a First Class Honours in Economics from the University of Sydney and a Master in Public Policy from Harvard University.

BRIGADIER GENERAL GAURAV “YODA” KEERTHI

Deputy Chief Executive, Cyber Security Agency of Singapore
BG Gaurav Keerthi was a helicopter pilot in the Republic of Singapore Air Force, and held a diverse range of senior command and staff appointments in MINDEF over his 20-year career. In his final tour, he was the Commander of the Air Defence and Operations Command, where he oversaw the networked operations and cyber defence for the RSAF and concurrently the Chief Innovation Officer of the RSAF. Gaurav has also served a stint at the Ministry of Trade & Industry (2008-2010), as part of his exposure in the Administrative Service.

Gaurav was the Assistant CE in CSA, covering International Cyber Policy, Operational Readiness, and Engineering, prior to his current role. As the Deputy CE, he oversees the cybersecurity capability and ecosystem development to help keep Singapore’s cyberspace safe and secure. He has given numerous talks and keynotes on cybersecurity, to students, members of the public, multinational organisations, and at conferences locally and abroad.

Gaurav completed his undergraduate at Stanford University on an SAF scholarship, and his graduate studies at Harvard University (he was a recipient of the Littauer Award at Harvard Kennedy School) on the Lee Kuan Yew Scholarship.

Outside work, he enjoys reading, jogging, playing guitar, and programming. He was an active volunteer in the debate community, and has founded numerous non-profit digital start-ups. He leads the national “TechForGood” non-profit volunteer-run organisation under BetterSG.

Ms Gwenda FONG

Assistant Chief Executive, Strategic Planning & Digital Readiness
Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), Singapore
Ms Gwenda Fong joined the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) as Assistant Chief Executive, Strategic Planning and Digital Readiness in April 2022. In this role, Gwenda oversees the Planning Group for IMDA to formulate strategies for Singapore in the digital economy, supported by research. She is also responsible for IMDA’s Digital Readiness efforts to develop and implement programmes that drive digital access and adoption amongst Singaporeans. Gwenda holds a concurrent appointment as Senior Director (Futures) in the Ministry of Communications and Information (MCI), where she leads research on long-term challenges and disruptions in the areas of communication, information, and digitalisation.

Prior to IMDA, Gwenda was the Assistant Chief Executive, Policy & Corporate Development at the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA). In that role, Gwenda was responsible for developing CSA’s national strategies and plans to tackle risks and leverage opportunities in the cyber domain, enabling operationalisation of the strategies and plans via a range of levers and profiling CSA’s efforts domestically and internationally to create mindshare and position Singapore as a cyber thought leader.

Gwenda was previously the Director in the Ageing Planning Office in the Ministry of Health (MOH). She has also held roles in the Ministry of Defence and the Defence Science & Technology Agency (DSTA).

Gwenda holds a BSc and MSc in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and a MSc in International Planning from University College London.

BENJAMIN ANG

Deputy Head, Centre of Excellence for National Security,
S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies
Benjamin Ang is the Senior Fellow leading Cyber and Homeland Defence research at the Center of Excellence for National Security (CENS), a policy research think tank in the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS), Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. His team examines how laws and public policy respond to developments in cybersecurity and information and communications technology, international law and norms, technology nationalism, smart cities, artificial intelligence, disinformation and information operations, foreign interference, social media, and emerging technology.

His draws from private sector experience as a former litigation lawyer, CIO, legal counsel, law lecturer, technology consultant, and even Novell Netware Administrator back in the day. He is a trainer for the UN/Singapore Cyber Diplomacy Programme, presented at the United Nations Open Ended Working Group on Developments in Information and Telecommunications in International Security, and testified before Singapore’s Select Committee on Deliberate Online Falsehoods.

Professor Annie Koh is a renowned conference speaker, panel moderator and commentator. In addition to being a member of the World Economic Forum Global Future Council on New Agenda for Work, Wages and Job Creation, Professor Koh chairs the Asian Bond Fund 2 supervisory committee of the Monetary Authority of Singapore and serves on the Customs Advisory Council and HR Transformation Advisory Panel. She is currently a board member of AMTD International Inc., PBA Group, Prime US REIT, Prudential Assurance Company Singapore Pte Ltd and Yoma Strategic Holdings Ltd. Professor Koh also advises privately owned enterprises such as Flexxon Pte Ltd, Hendricks Corp. Pte Ltd, TOP International, and startups such as AvePoint EduTech, Dedoco, RootAnt Global, StashAway, StaffOnDemand, SWAT Mobility, and non-profits such as WWF Singapore and Cyber Youth Singapore. She has been an investment committee member of iGlobe Partners since July 2010.

Professor Koh received a Ph.D. degree in International Finance with Fulbright scholarship from Stern School of Business, New York University in 1988. In recognition of her contribution to education and the public sector, she was awarded the bronze (2010) and silver (2016) Singapore Public Administration medals respectively, and the Adult Education Prism Award (2017).

CHAN KEE SIAK

Chief Executive Officer and Founder, Exabytes Group
Started humbly as a helper at his father’s hawker store, Chan enrolled into a local college at 18 years old, selling PC hardware on a part time basis to earn his tuition fees. As he discovered the potential of web hosting and lack of providers in Malaysia when building a website for his customer, at 19 he set up his first web hosting reseller business which was 100% online based, and business kept coming in. To grab the once in a lifetime opportunity, Chan dropped out of college to concentrate on his online business.

Under the leadership of Chan, today the Exabytes Group consists of 12 subsidiaries, with businesses ranging from web hosting to eCommerce and e-Deliveries, serving over 160,000 businesses with over 1 million users in 121 countries. Besides being the local director of Founder Institute, Chan is also the president of the Internet Alliance, Malaysia, and the honoree of TOYM (Top Outstanding Young Malaysian), 2015.

Chan is also co-founder of EasyParcel, EasyStore, EasyWork, EasySpace and angel investors in several startups.

Magdalene Loh

Head of Innovation, Prudential Singapore
Magdalene Loh is the Head of Innovation at Prudential Singapore. In this role, she works closely with the leadership team to empower the innovation superhero within each Prudential staff through upskilling and exposure to new ways of working. She also leads on cross-functional efforts to embed processes that facilitate a culture of innovation in Prudential, and incubates promising new ideas. Most recently, she has been tasked to scale innovation globally across the Prudential Group.

Building on the local and regional partnerships forged during her stint in Government Relations, Magdalene continues to co-create solutions with both internal and external stakeholders around the themes of skills, health and wealth. A lawyer by training, Magdalene has also served as Legal Counsel with Prudential at both the local and regional levels. Prior to joining the company, she was a generalist lawyer in private practice.

Outside of work, Magdalene is a strong advocate of career design as one of the key tools to navigate Industry 4.0. The career design simulation she developed has been used in public schools across Singapore and the USA.

Murari Kalyanaramani

Chief Information Security Officer, UOB Singapore
Murari is the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for UOB Singapore has over 20 years’ experience in Information & Cyber Security, Outsourcing & Supplier Management, Business Continuity, Information Systems Auditing and IT Risk Management. Prior to joining UOB, he worked in various leadership roles in several multinational corporations across the banking, consumer and consultancy industries.

On top of his role at UOB, Murari has taken on international and regional industry leadership and advisory roles. He currently serves as a Senior Industry Advisor for CIO Academy Asia and is a member of the Singapore Institute Directors. He previously served on the International Board of Directors for the Financial Services Information Sharing and Analysis Centre (FS-ISAC), FS-ISAC Asia Pacific Strategy Committee, ISACA International Professional Standards Committee and ISACA International Professional Standards and Career Management Committee.

Goh Eng Choon

Goh Eng Choon is the President of the Cyber business area at ST Engineering, a global technology, defence and engineering group with a diverse portfolio of businesses across the aerospace, smart city, defence and public security segments. He also heads the Info-Security line of business under Cyber.

He leads the growth and development of the cybersecurity business and its end-to-end capabilities which comprise building security operations centres (SOCs), managing security services for customers, delivering robust cybersecurity solutions, and training cybersecurity professionals. Under his leadership, the cybersecurity team has designed, built and operated more than 20 SOCs for national, critical information infrastructure and commercial enterprise customers globally.

Prior to joining the Group in 2011, Eng Choon was a full-time military officer with the Singapore Armed Forces where he was responsible for all Command, Control, Communications and Computerisation (C4) developments across the Army. He was also the Managing Director of a security, command and control solutions company.

Goh Eng Choon holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the National University of Singapore and a Master of Science in Information Studies from Nanyang Technological University. He completed the Stanford Executive Program at the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Steven Sim has worked for more than 24 years in the cybersecurity field with large end-user enterprises and critical infrastructures, undertaken global CISO role, driven security governance and management initiatives and headed incident response, security architecture, technology and operations at local, regional and global levels.

Always keen to give back to the community, he volunteers at the ISACA Singapore Chapter as the President, chairs the OT-ISAC Executive Committee and holds a Masters in Computing (NUS), Credential of Readiness (HBS Online), CCISO, CGEIT, CRISC, CISM, CISA, CDPSE, CISSP, as well as technical certifications GICSP, GREM, GCIH and GPPA.

He is an APMG-accredited trainer for ISACA’s core certifications, member of ISACA’s Asia Strategic Advisory Council, Emerging Trends Working Group and Chapter Leader Training Working Group. He has been a mentor with the ISACA Mentorship program, a CRISC Review Manual Subject Matter Expert Reviewer as well as ISACA Engage Topic Leader for Risk Management. He is also a member of the CyberEdBoard Community, Microsoft APAC CISO Council, Cybereason Cyber Defenders Council, Fortinet Executive Cyber Exchange and Enterprise SG WG on TR Securing the Cyber-Physical Systems for Buildings.

He regularly shares his thoughts on cyber risk and security, lectures on an adjunct basis at National University of Singapore Institute of System Sciences, speaks and panels at both international and local conferences, guest lectures at other Institute of Higher Learnings and published articles, undertaken industry advisory role and provided vCISO mentorship to SMES and start-ups.

He topped the inaugural IDG’s CSO30 ASEAN Awards 2021, a recipient of the ISACA Outstanding Chapter Leader Achievement Awards 2022, a recipient of 2022 Global Cybersecurity Leadership Award Winner – Editor’s Choice by CXOTV, is listed in Peerlyst 29 Highly Influential CISOs, a Singapore SkillsFuture Fellow and Professional (Leaders) Finalist in The Cybersecurity Awards 2018.

Garion Kong

Garion is an information technology and security professional with over 20 years’ experience leading the IT governance, management and information security for SMEs and regional offices of MNCs in Asia. He is currently the Manager, Technical Services (APAC) for a software analytics company leading the Technical Services for the Asia Pacific region as well as oversees the internal IT governance, IT operations and information security vulnerability management for the regional offices in Asia. Prior to his current role, Garion was the head of IT for a catastrophe risk modelling and research company.

Garion has a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Business Information Technology. His current area of interest is in integrating information security with technology and businesses and holds several IT security certifications. Garion is a certified quality professional with CQI, ISO/IEC 27001:2013 Lead Auditor and a certified Chief Information Security Officer (C|CISO).

Garion is the current term President for the (ISC)2 Singapore Chapter, a volunteer Career Advisor with Workforce Singapore (WSG) and a co-opted EXCO observer member with Tech Talent Assembly (TTAB).

Shao Fei

President, Singapore Computer Society Cybersecurity Chapter
As a Fellow of the Singapore Computer Society (SCS), Shao Fei currently serves as President of the Cyber Security (CS) Chapter of SCS.

Shao Fei was inducted as Professional of the Year at the prestigious Singapore Computer Society IT Leader Awards 2020, and as winner of The Cybersecurity Awards 2021 (Leader Category). He was also nominated to The Cybersecurity Observatory’s Hall of Fame in January 2020 and inducted as a AISP Validated Information Security Professional (AVIP) in March 2021.
